First modelling Gig: Booked and Done

Servus,
So anyhow on a lighter note, today is the 22nd of March and I must say my body aches all over. Why you must ask, well a few months ago I was talking to an acquaintance who happens to be a professional photographer , about sports in general and how I would like to find some basketball courts in Leipzig, Germany to play at especially during the summer. Anyhow as the conversation progressed she ask if I would be interested in doing a photo-shoot sometime in the future, being the adventurous individual that I am I elated at the possibility and we agreed that when they are ready she would contact me.
Fast forward as few months later, I get an e-mail telling me the photo-shoot would be on Friday 21st March, Namibian Independence day! the stars were aligned and I moved some appointments so that I would have enough time to part-take in the photo-shoot uninhibited. Now up until this point I had never done any print modelling or relatively almost no modelling at all other than the few times I did runway during my undergraduate studies for a friend. Needless to say I was both excited and terrified at the prospect of potentially having egg on my face for thinking I could do this and at the same time a few friends had been asking me why I do not do some modelling on the side, so maybe they knew better. Genetically I am slender and often get away with looking athletic: well I do jog, ride bicycle and play basketball every other day and that is about it, I am not a fan of seat-up nor push-up. I have also been on a gain some weight diet which occasionally fails because I tend to be too cheap and not want to pay for tram tickets and thus us my bicycle and in the process burning all my hard gain fat 🙁 .
So yesterday was the day that I had to face the camera nervous as I was, I was interested to see what the fuss was all about in being a model anyway. The nerves were calmed by the fun atmosphere on set, the other models had way more experience than i did, they certainly looked the part all well groomed and super toned bodies. All I had was my athleticism thank goodness the concept was football in the city… image if they had said something more edgier I would’ve died on the spot.
So the pain started with us having to climb 7 meter fence with our bare-hands and sneakers that had no grip, the others had immense upper body strength and all I had was experience. Experience? Yes experience growing up on the streets of Katutura, Windhoek we (my friends and I), jumped many fences for fun and in addition, the fact that I spend most of my holidays on the countryside meant that we played games such as touch up in the trees to add some level of complexity and adrenaline to the game, that is the experience I am talking about. But then again it has been a while so I was a bit rusty, thank goodness we had a mini practice round to acclimate to the surroundings. And as soon as the photographer said GO! I was the last one up, funny thing is coming down I was like a NINJA 😀 and I was first in the end [It doesn’t matter how you start its how you Finnish that counts]. Using all these muscles that I had not used in such a long time was fun and I felt so energetic. This morning when I woke up my entire upper body was aching from having to pull all 81 kg of myself over that 7 meter tall fence more than 4 times. ppfeeew but I did it!
The rest of the day went well and I had fun. I could definitely see myself booking more photo-shoots in the near future and yes I am considering going to the gym baaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh but do I really have tooo
Ohh did I mention I actually had to travel to Berlin, Germany for the photo-shoot just for a few hours. hehhehehe How Modelly is that yyaaaay I am so happy I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out. The moment I have them i will upload some of them 🙂

Laterz,

G!
